Art is the locus for producing creative ideas

In 2015, Ai Ikeda decided to explore a new artistic concept: Info Art. As information is becoming more persuasive in everyday lives, and that Art struggles to find its place and purpose among a data-intensive capitalist world, Info Art is an artistic approach in which aesthetic ideas could serve informative purposes and where each artwork can communicate, not only emotions and sensitivities, but also information and social/political messages to help create a more balanced and less conflicted world.

The Principle

Through the uses of all varieties of media, Info Art is a method of thinking about social issues and getting to know about it. Info Art is also a new exploratory ground in hopes to provide opportunities to help people become more informed and aware of important social issues.

Repurposing Aesthetics

Ai Ikeda

Ai Ikeda is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Nara, Japan. Ikeda is currently an MFA candidate in Painting and Drawing in the Studio Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Previously she earned a BFA in Oil Painting from the Kanazawa College of Art, Japan. In her early career, she studied Eastern and Western art history and philosophy, as well as classic and modern techniques. In her recent works, Ikeda tackles social issues and uses art as a means to reflect upon important matters, without abandoning aesthetic ideals. Her work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions in Nara, Kanazawa, Tokyo, New York, Montreal, and Leipzig.
